In two separate nights, police team Waddinxveen-Zuidplas managed to arrest a total of 5 suspects this weekend for theft of cargo from the same truck.
On the night of Saturday to Sunday, colleagues drove over the Nijverheidscentrum in Zevenhuizen during their surveillance when their attention was drawn to a passenger car that was with lights on at the truck parking lot. Once there, they suddenly saw several people running away who were standing next to an open semi-trailer. After a short chase on foot, the suspects fled into the ditch. In the ditch they managed to stop the 18-year-old Rotterdam.
A second suspect managed to escape through that same ditch. A third suspect, a 27-year-old Rotterdammer, was later arrested in the immediate vicinity. After investigation, it turned out that next to the broken-open semi-trailer there was a van equipped with false license plates containing part of the load from the semi-trailer. Both the van and the passenger car that turned out to come from the 27-year-old Rotterdammer were confiscated.
On the night of Sunday to Monday, the driver of the same truck called that there were people walking around his truck who were busy loading his truck. Officers who rushed up found another passenger car in the parking lot and saw a van that was standing next to it driving away. On the Zuidplasweg, other officers saw the bus driving and were able to give the driver a stop sign. Part of the cargo was also found in this van. The 40-year-old driver from Rotterdam was arrested.
The driver of the passenger car, a 23-year-old Rotterdammer, was also arrested for involvement in the theft. After a short search, another 27-year-old Rotterdammer who had been hiding there was arrested in the bushes. All suspects are currently still in custody and the detective department has investigated the case.
