Over 50% of all cargo crimes reported to TAPA EMEA are attributed to attacks on vehicles parked in unsecured or unclassified parking places.
This is partly due to the lack of secure truck parking places. TAPA EMEA estimates demand for a further 400,000 truck parking places at over 2,000 sites in the region.
TAPA EMEA is working to raise the profile of secure parking places in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region, and to encourage more Parking Place Operators to provide a minimum standard of security to help protect drivers, vehicles, and cargoes. The Association’s Parking Security Requirements (PSR) has been created in consultation with its Manufacturer & Shipper and Logistics Service provider members to help PPOs understand what the buyers of truck parking places require by way of on-site security.
PPOs which meet one of the levels of TAPA EMEA’s secure parking programme have their sites listed in the secure parking database accessible to members via the Association’s TAPA EMEA Intelligence System. TAPA EMEA currently provides visibility to secure parking places in 14 countries in the region.
As members of TAPA EMEA, Parking Place Operators learn more the wide range of attacks on supply chains happening around the EMEA region as well as the supply chain security solutions available to companies to reduce cargo crime. They can also network directly with the Association’s other members.
