The semi-trailers’ conformity with the highest level of the Association’s Trucking Security Requirements (TSR) was confirmed 10 months ago by TAPA-approved Independent Audit Body, DQS, making Schmitz Cargobull the first OEM to integrate TAPA’s requirements into its vehicles and offer this equipment ex works.
The company says that since the semi-trailer with TrailerConnect telematics installed was launched at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2022 exhibition, “the demand for refrigerated vehicles with this equipment has been increasing steadily, with over 300 vehicles with TAPA certification planned or already delivered.”
“We are pleased that we can offer our customers the S.KO COOL box semi-trailer with the highest safety standards according to TAPA TSR-1 ex works. Of course, the problem-free and efficient cooperation with TAPA EMEA also plays a decisive role. We attach great importance to safety and security and are proud to offer our customers a box semi-trailer that meets the demanding requirements of TAPA TSR-1. With the S.KO COOL, our customers can transport their cargo with absolute confidence and benefit from the highest level of security,” says Carsten Krieger, Product Manager at Schmitz Cargobull.
In order to meet the requirements of TAPA TSR-1, an acoustic alarm system networked in TrailerConnect® is integrated, which triggers an alarm in the event of unauthorised access to the trailer by third parties. In addition to this acoustic alarm system, the new TL4 electronic door locking system ensures that the goods are protected against access by illegal third parties. With this smart, safe, and innovative function, the user automates the control of the door locking system and increases process and transport safety. The user can specify loading and unloading points at which the door locking system automatically unlocks or locks when entering and exiting. These geofence areas are configured once in the TrailerConnect portal. In addition, after closing the trailer door, a general automatic locking can be activated with a mouse click in the portal or using an app.
“We congratulate Schmitz Cargobull on the successful launch of this TAPA-ready semi-trailer, which is a further indication of the importance of the TAPA Standards for both shippers and their transport providers,” said Markus Prinz, Senior Manager, Training & Standards, TAPA EMEA.
