Emperor’s Palace Conference Centre, Johannesburg – 7 March 2023

This event is free of charge for TAPA EMEA members. Non-members can also attend by paying the 1,800 (€99) delegate fee.

Cargo crime in South Africa is a major and growing concern for international manufacturers and logistics service providers. In the 18 months to June 2022, the TAPA EMEA Intelligence System (TIS) recorded 2,670 cargo thefts across all 9 South African provinces, including 2,236 truck hijackings.

Only 3.4% of these crimes reported financial loss data but these incidents alone produced losses of:

  • 577 million rand (€31.7m) of goods stolen from supply chains in 546 days
  • 109 million rand (€5.9m) – biggest single cargo theft
  • 17,264,794 rand (€947,862) – average loss for major cargo crimes of 1.8m rand (€100K) or more
  • 6,344,897 rand (€348,344)

This special one-day conference in Gauteng province on 7 March 2023, the region for over 50% of all cargo thefts reported to TAPA EMEA, will help supply chain security stakeholders, including Manufacturers and Logistics Service providers, understand the security risks impacting supply chains in South Africa and highlight solutions which contribute to supply chain resilience.

The conference reception and exhibition area will open for networking, tea & coffee at 08.00hrs. The conference sessions will commence at 09.00hrs until 16.30hrs, including two coffee breaks and a lunch break to provide time to network with other delegates and to meet with our exhibitors.
