New TSR 1-ready trailer

Schmitz Cargobull is expanding its product portfolio of the S.KO COOL refrigerated semi-trailer with the launch of a new TAPA TSR Level 1-ready transporter, becoming the first OEM to integrate TAPA’s requirements into its vehicles and offer this equipment ex works.

After confirmation of the semi-trailers conformity with TSR by TAPA-approved Independent Audit Body, DQS, the official handover of the TSR 1-ready certificate will take place at a special ceremony during the IAA Transportation 2022 event in Hannover, Germany.  Representatives of TAPA EMEA, Schmitz Cargobull and DQS will join the presentation on Tuesday, 20 September 2022 at the Schmitz Cargobull exhibition stand in Hall 27, Stand F26 for a press appointment.

IAA 2022 takes place at the Hannover Fairground on 20-25 September 2022 and is one of the world‘s most important events looking at the future of the commercial vehicle industry. More than 2,100 companies from 48 countries were represented at the last edition of the fair.

The Schmitz Cargobull S.KO COOL refrigerated semi-trailer has proven itself internationally in temperature-controlled transportation over several decades and, with a market share of over 50%, is respected as one of the top vehicles throughout Europe. The safety features that comply with the TAPA TSR 1 Standard are new and facilitate the official certification procedure. With the TAPA TSR 1 Standard and installed components, the Schmitz Cargobull S.KO COOL refrigerated semi-trailers will support the highest level of the Association’s Trucking Security Requirements (TSR).

In order to meet the requirements of TAPA TSR 1, a networked acoustic alarm system has been integrated into TrailerConnect®, in addition to other equipment, which triggers an alarm in the event of unauthorised access to the trailer by third parties. TrailerConnect® is the 100% integrated telematics infrastructure from Schmitz Cargobull. In addition to this acoustic alarm system, the new TL4 electronic door locking system ensures that the goods onboard the trailer are protected from access by unauthorised third parties. These smart and innovative products increase transport security and are an exclusive feature only possible with the networked TrailerConnect® telematics solution.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our customers a factory-fitted refrigerated semi-trailer equipped for the highest TAPA TSR security Standard, and to contribute to greater supply chain resilience. We will remain in close contact with TAPA EMEA and will also help to shape future extended safety and security requirements in order to be able to offer our customers the highest standards at all times,” says Arne Marwinski, Project Manager Digital Services at Schmitz Cargobull.

The Schmitz Cargobull S.KO COOL refrigerated semi-trailers with TAPA-TSR 1 ready  certification will be available from the end of September 2022.

TAPA EMEA’s Markus Prinz stated: “We are delighted to have been able to support this excellent and innovative initiative by Schmitz Cargobull, which is yet another benefit for the growing number of transport companies adopting our Trucking Security Requirements in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region.”
