TAPA EMEA’s intention to build its understanding of cargo crime and supply chain resilience challenges in the Iberian Peninsula continues in September with a special local language webinar for companies operating in the region.
This is the latest initiative by the Association to gain more intelligence about this important manufacturing and logistics market. In June, Markus Prinz, TAPA EMEA’s Senior Manager, Standards & Training, addressed delegates at SIL Barcelona, the leading conference and exhibition for logistics, transport, intralogistics and supply chain professionals in Southern Europe. He was joined on stage by Carmen Nickstat of NAEKO, Carles Cardona from Juma Consulting, Captain Patrick Montes Peris of the Judicial Police of the Zone of Catalonia, and Iván Clotet of Mossos d’Esquadra.
The upcoming webinar will now share TAPA EMEA’s current knowledge of risks to supply chains in the Iberian Peninsula and ask for support from members to grow the Association’s presence in the region. TAPA EMEA is especially looking to increase the number of facilities, trucking operations and secure parking locations with TAPA Security Standards’ certifications, and to identify more sources of cargo crime information.
The TAPA EMEA Intelligence System (TIS) is making strong progress in sourcing information on incidents in Spain, with over 700 cargo thefts recorded in the past 18 months, with a combined loss of €4,478,624 for the 74 of these crimes sharing a value. The 11 major incidents involving stolen products worth €100K or more produced an average loss of €349,502. Data from Portugal, however, is sparse. Only 14 losses have been reported to TAPA EMEA since 1 January 2021.
Participants in September’s webinar will be welcomed by Markus Prinz before he hands over to moderator Filipe de Almeida of Rangel Logistics Solutions to introduce the four specialists contributing to the discussion: Carmen Nickstat of NAEKO, Daniel Garcia of DESIGUAL, Carles Cardona of Juma Consulting, and Loreto del Rio of audit body, SGS.
The TAPA EMEA Iberian Peninsula Webinar is free to members and non-members but you must register to participate.
