Caught on Film – Can You Help Provide the Evidence TV Companies Need of Cargo Crime? 

TAPA EMEA has received two approaches this month from national television documentary producers which are working on programmes linked to rising freight crime in the United Kingdom. 

The challenge they face is that without film footage to show crimes taking place, they are struggling to successfully complete their assignments. TAPA EMEA, too, has very little film evidence of actual cargo crimes in progress. 

We understand the reluctance to share such footage, especially if your company branding comes into shot. Producers have advised us that they can blur any branding in footage they receive because, like TAPA EMEA, they are focussed on the criminal activity and not the identity of the victim company.   

Having access to such film footage would be a very valuable asset to TAPA EMEA. It would present us with opportunities to proactively approach more news outlets to encourage them to look at the issue of cargo crime, and it would certainly grab the attention of government ministries and policymakers when we try to engage with them.We know many of our member companies have security camera recordings of cargo thefts impacting facilities and trucks.  Would you consider making these available?  Please contact info@tapaemea.org if you wish to assist us or find out more.
