Who is TAPA?
The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) is a global, industry-driven organisation focused on reducing cargo crime and strengthening supply chain security.
TAPA EMEA represents the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and works with manufacturers, logistics providers, freight forwarders, insurers and law enforcement agencies to establish and maintain recognised security standards and best practices.

Step 1 – Become a TAPA Member (Optional but Recommended)
Most organisations choose to become members of TAPA EMEA to access additional resources, industry intelligence and training opportunities.
Membership offers several advantages, including:

Step 2 – Understand and chose the TAPA Standards
Depending on your operations, you may work with one or more of the following:
Facility Security Requirements (FSR)
Designed for logistics facilities such as warehouses, distribution centres and cross-dock locations.
This standard defines security requirements for buildings, access control, monitoring and operational procedures.
Trucking Security Requirements (TSR)
Developed for companies transporting cargo by road.
The TSR standard covers vehicle security, route planning, driver procedures and operational controls.
Parking Security Requirements (PSR)
Designed for operators of secure truck parking facilities and safe parking locations.
The standard helps ensure that drivers and cargo can park in locations that meet defined security requirements.
Cyber Security Standard (CSS)
Focused on protecting logistics operations against cyber threats that could affect supply chain integrity and operational continuity.

Step 3 – Take the Relevant TAPA Training
TAPA training helps organisations understand the requirements of each standard and how to implement them effectively within their operations.
Training is strongly recommended before starting a certification process and is often compulsory for staff responsible for compliance and audits.

Step 4 – Choose Your Certification Pathway
Once you understand the standard and have prepared your organisation, the next step is certification.
TAPA EMEA offers two certification pathways depending on your operational needs.
Define Your Security Level
Besides the CSS you need to define the level of security, suitable for your organisation.
Self-Certification Possibilities for Level 3 / Level C
Self-Certification allows your organisation to perform an internal audit against the relevant standard and submit the results to TAPA EMEA for review.
This pathway is often chosen by organisations that are new to the TAPA framework or that want to certify their first locations.

Independent Audit Certification for Hight Security Level 1+2 / Level A+B
An independent certification audit is conducted by a TAPA-approved audit body.
This pathway provides an additional level of external verification and is commonly required by large manufacturers, shippers or customers.

Once your site successfully completes the certification process, it will receive an official TAPA certificate demonstrating compliance with the relevant standard.
Step 5 – Use TAPA Tools and Intelligence
TAPA EMEA provides members access to tools that support supply chain security and operational awareness.
One of the key resources is the TAPA Intelligence System (TIS), which provides information on cargo crime incidents and risk trends across regions.
The system helps organisations:
