TAPA EMEA Hosts Local Language Conference in Paris to Discuss Rising Cargo Crime in France

The level of cargo thefts from supply chains in France is a growing concern for manufacturers, logistics service providers, and all supply chain security stakeholders.

In the last 2 years, the TAPA EMEA Intelligence System (TIS) has recorded 4,255 incidents of product losses across the country with a combined cost of >€121 million for the 11% of these crimes reporting their financial impact. Major cargo crimes (thefts of goods worth €100K or more) averaged €826,337.

On 14 October 2025, the TAPA EMEA France Working Group hosts a special French language regional conference to discuss the risks facing supply chains in France and, more importantly, the supply chain security measures manufacturers and logistics service providers can take to protect their operations from a criminal attack.

At this special event, TAPA EMEA aims to welcome as many non-members as possible alongside current members based in France to attend. The Association’s goal is to increase its membership in France to start building a community size which reflects the scale of cargo crime across the country. More members = more intelligence = more awareness = more loss prevention.

TAPA EMEA’s Regional Lead, Céline Lubrano – Head of Quality, Health & Safety, Security Operational Resilience and Environment at DHL Global Forwarding in France – will host updates and insights by representatives of French law enforcement, luxury goods brands, and transport and logistics providers. The aim of the event is to introduce TAPA EMEA to more non-member organisations in France and to deliver advice and available solutions to combat criminal acts against supply chains.

Crimes suffered by supply chains in France in the last 24 months include:

  • €6,819,615 – perfumes stolen from a trailer at an unsecured parking in Hauts-de-France.
  • €3,200,000 – auto parts taken from an Origin Facility in Val-d’Oise and the subsequent arrests of 18 suspects.
  • €3,000,000 – hundreds of cartons of cigarettes stolen from a truck parked in Nantes.
  • €2,500,000 – 161 pallets of cosmetics and perfumes taken from an Origin Facility in Paris, resulting in five arrests.
  • €2,000-000 – computers and laptops stolen from a truck at a secured parking location in Paris.
  • €1,500,000 – leather goods stolen in a robbery at an Origin Facility in Tremblay-en-France.
  • €1,500,000 – loss of a trailer of perfumes from an Aviation Transportation Facility in Paris.
  • €1,000,000 – a trailer loaded with copper stolen from an Origin Facility.
  • €1,000,000 – pharmaceuticals taken from an Origin Facility in Nanterre.
  • €600,000 – a case of deception and the theft of champagne travelling en route in Reims.

Major cargo thefts of goods with a value of €100K or more in this period also involved losses of bicycles, cash-in-transit, cheese, clothing, electronics products, handbags, jewellery and precious metals, medical equipment, smartphones, tools, wine – and 22 pallets of seeds worth €117,000.
